Week at a Glance October 1-5, 2018

Y'all, I had one of those days on Friday. 

One of those days when you feel like you can't do enough. 
One of those days when you feel like you aren't doing enough.
One of those days when you feel like you will never be able to do enough.

What's worse...  I was acting the exact opposite of what I "preach".

Luckily, I work with a great group of people that are empathetic. Forgiving. Problem-solvers. Encouragers.

A group of people that told me its okay to feel that way every once in a while... because we are human... because we make mistakes... and that should always be okay.

A group of people that told me that I WAS enough. 

I hope you all know how grateful I am to have such a wonderful staff at John Haley. When you have a day like this...its okay. You are human. You are not a robot. You are giving A LOT of yourself to a very important job. I see it. We all see it. It's what you do the next day that makes the difference. (Which for me was to get some rest, love on my family, and then SUCK IT UP, roll up my sleeves and get back to it!)

Keep encouraging each other. Keep forgiving each other. Be open. Be honest. Be a teammate.

YOU ARE ENOUGH!  

~High five to Melissa Fulton for helping a struggling student in kinder by letting him help you lead the class! It was an awesome thing to see! 
~Thank you  Carrie Patrick for finding out a challenging student's book interest and purchasing the newest book in the series just for him out of your own pocket! WOW! That is a way to build a relationship!
~~Shout out to Christine Balmaceda for working hard to build relationships with some of our kindergarten students that need it the most! 
~Shout out to the JHaley second grade team for a fabulous math planning this week!
~Thank you PBIS team for staying late with me on Wednesday to work through our ideas for PBIS! Excited to get it going this week!
~Thank you Mr. Chanse Vaughn for being an awesome sub and doing whatever it takes at JHE!
~Whoop-Whoop goes out to the entire staff for making it through testing and the first 6 weeks! :)

Sorry I am late this week! Have a great last week of the first 6 weeks!

PLEASE remember-as long as we are working hard for kids-we are doing the right thing! We will never be perfect. We will make mistakes. And that's okay. We are making awesome progress already!

Next week is the 5th week of school-can you even believe it?!  You all are doing a great job... I know that you are working tirelessly and through it all, I have seen nothing but great attitudes. 

PS: The college week activties can be modified to fit into your day better. For example, just show them your school's chant/fight song/etc on Monday morning!

Hey Awesome Staff!

We made it through a short but packed week!  I see you all working SO HARD for our kids. I had the BEST walk-through day as an administrator EVER this week. Even though a new curriculum is a lot of work and takes more time to process through, you are such a strong staff and you are making things happen! It's really so inspiring!
